You'll get in a romantic mood when walking amongst 90 historic gas lanterns from all over Europe in the Gas Light Open Air Museum.
The open air museum is in the middle of Tiergarten, reachable on foot from the Berlin Zoon. Especially under the very detailed lanterns with five flames, you will feel like a pair of lovebirds from the Wilhelmine area meeting for a secret encounter in park. The Wilhelmine era was when gas lights slowly replaced oil lamps in the street with their dim light.
By the way: Berlin still has about 44.000 gas lights operative, that’s about half of all gas lights in the world.
