The MACHmit! Museum for Children in Prenzlauer Berg is arguably Berlin's most active children's museum: instead of quiet observation, it's all about touching, climbing, printing, and exploring. In a converted church on Senefelder Straße, children aged two and up playfully learn what exhibitions alone could never achieve.

MACHmit! Museum for Children: Where Easter Holidays Engage Hands and Minds

During the Berlin Easter holidays from March 30th to April 10th, 2026, the museum is open daily from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00. This is especially practical for families who want to fill their free days meaningfully. Monsters have moved into the museum: with life-sized figures by illustrator Nadia Budde, the UN Children’s Rights roam through the exhibition „Sweating & Freezing”. The monsters invite visitors on a wild slide through mountains and make children’s rights glow, spin, and crackle.

Children are not only the target group here but are also involved in the development of temporary exhibitions. All exhibitions arise from engaging with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. So, those who don’t just want to let the holidays pass by can become exhibition makers themselves here.

Climbing, Printing, Marvelling: What the Museum Offers During the Easter Holidays

At the Machmit! Museum, children are not pushed into a passive observer role, but can explore, experiment, and playfully discover new things with all their senses, for example, on the 7-meter-high climbing shelf. Permanent and temporary exhibitions are spread over two floors and in the former church tower, including the mirror cabinet and the in-house museum print shop. In holiday workshops, children are also introduced to artistic techniques such as printing processes.

The family café offers delicious cocoa and fresh cake for a well-deserved break. Children from Pankow also get free admission to the museum on the first Wednesday of every month. Tickets can be conveniently purchased in the online shop or directly at the museum cash desk. If you are arriving with a group, you should reserve a time slot by phone in advance.
