In the southwest of Berlin, in the Dahlem district, lies an active organic farm that is also an open-air museum. Domäne Dahlem combines agriculture, animal husbandry, and cultural history on a historic manor – and offers a packed hands-on program for families and children during the Easter holidays.

Domäne Dahlem: Farm, Museum and Easter Adventure in One

Domäne Dahlem is a real organic farm and an open-air museum for agricultural and food culture. What does that mean? Children don’t just see animals behind a fence; they are right in the middle of it. They experience how animals are fed, cows are driven in or out, and stables are mucked out. There are also old domestic animal breeds that are endangered – including ponies, sheep, goats, cows, pigs, ducks, chickens, and bees. So, if you’re looking for an excursion destination in Berlin during the Easter holidays that offers more than just a short walk, you’ll find it here.

Especially convenient: Domäne Dahlem is the only open-air museum in the world with a subway connection. No parking stress, no long journey – simply take the U3 to Dahlem-Dorf, exit, arrive.

Easter Holiday Program at Domäne Dahlem

Visits to farm animals and various craft activities are part of Domäne Dahlem’s program around Easter. For example, children immerse themselves in the world of bees: candles are made from beeswax after a visit to the bees, and participants jointly search for colorful harbingers of spring in the gardens and greenhouses, paint a clay pot, fill it with compost earth, and sow flowers in it.

Registration is not necessary for the events – the meeting point is the workshop in the manor house, the programs take place from 11:00 to 14:00 and restart every full hour. The cost is three euros per child. For those who want more, a multi-day holiday camp can also be booked: children experience four days of holidays at Domäne Dahlem and discover what happens on a farm in spring. The four-day program costs 185 euros – booking individual days is not possible.
