Café Kiezkind: Heated Indoor Sandpit

Café Kiezkind at Helmholtzplatz has a special feature that Berlin parents appreciate in November: a heated indoor sandpit. This makes a visit enjoyable even when nobody wants to sit still outside for more than ten minutes.

Additionally, the indoor area offers a large selection of toys and a book corner. The menu includes freshly squeezed juices, cakes, milk flatbreads, and vegan pastries; alcohol is not served. Free Wi-Fi is available, extending the stay for parents who need to get some work done.

Outside at Helmholtzplatz

The outdoor area provides a large sandpit and lawn for romping around. Scooters, tricycles, and Bobbycars are available for free. A few steps further is the public playground on Helmholtzplatz with a slide, swings, and a pirate ship.

On Wednesdays, there’s a dedicated program for children, and the café can be rented for children’s birthdays or school enrollment parties. If you’re planning, it’s best to inquire about available dates early.
