The Café am Neuen See is one of the city’s most famous beer gardens and is located directly on the shore in the Tiergarten. Hundreds of seats are available under old trees, with the lake and rowing boats in front, which can be rented by the hour. For children, this is often the main attraction: half an hour of rowing, then back to the table.

The beer garden offers self-service with bratwurst, tarte flambée, and pretzels, while the adjacent restaurant serves regional and seasonal cuisine with table service. The areas are so large that children can run around without disturbing anyone.

Rowing, Playground and Tiergarten

There is a playground directly on the premises, and all around begins the Tiergarten with its paths and meadows. The Zoological Garden is within walking distance, which can be easily combined for a full family day out.

On warm weekends, it gets very busy, especially in the afternoon. If you want a table by the water, come early or opt for the back rows under the trees, where it’s shadier anyway.
