Located in a backyard on Potsdamer Straße in Berlin-Schöneberg Panama Restaurant & Bar is the third restaurant of Ludwig Cramer-Klett, who already founded the trendy Katz Orange in Berlin-Mitte and the deli Candy on Bone in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Panama welcomes its guests in a modern, bright and clean ambience. Panamanian details and decorations, yellow-brown patterned chair seats as well as a huge light installation on the ceiling by artist Björn Dahlem add to the atmosphere.
The concept of the restaurant is inspired by the children’s book “The Trip to Panama” by Janosch. The room is filled with soft electro pop and reggae sounds in the background. The staff seems very motivated and does a good job with handling the mixed audience. Business people from the surrounding offices, artists and couples – they all simply want to enjoy a nice evening along with great food.
The menu at Panama Restaurant & Bar is legendary. Head chef Sophia Rudolph loves to experience with all kinds of flavors and spices and combines exotic ingredients with fresh local products. Every dish is surprising in its taste. Kimchi meets fennel, trout tartar is spiced up with curcuma and pork cheeks mix with rhubarb. The desserts are also incredibly good. The variations are just as wild. Lettuce with passion fruit, dark chocolate and coriander or smoked pepper with marshmallows and coffee-caramel will surprise your taste. The menu ends with a list of great wines and cocktails. The choice of soft drinks with special flavors like hay is rather unique, too.
Panama Restaurant & Bar is part of the Contemporary Food Lab. Every month it hosts workshops, excursions, and events that support the transfer of knowledge, inspire and help you understand all subjects regarding all human beings, nature and food.
