Behind the names of Senegalese specialties like Mafé and Tilapia are dishes with beef, rice and peanut sauce or fried fish with plantains at KauKau in Schöneberg.
The dishes at KauKau taste particularly authentic, which is why it is the most popular meeting point for West Africans in Berlin, located right next to Winterfeldplatz. The name “KauKau” comes from Senegalese and means the farmer.
But guests at KauKau can not only eat but also celebrate: on Fridays and Saturdays, cocktails are sipped to live music. The Strawberry Daiquiri is particularly popular. And the restaurant is also an ideal place to watch football, as its owner Gregor da Costa once played for the Senegalese national team!
