Ramen in Berlin, from a southwestern perspective: Midori on Steglitzer Damm brings Japanese noodle soup culture to one of the city's quieter neighborhoods. Small, cozy, and with a menu that offers other Japanese specialties like sushi in addition to ramen.

Ramen in Berlin Steglitz: What Midori brings to the table

Those looking for good ramen in Berlin probably rarely think of Steglitz. But the journey to Midori at Steglitzer Damm 35 is well worth it, we promise! The restaurant describes itself as Japanese fusion cuisine. In addition to fresh sushi and tempura, there’s also a solid selection of warm soups on the menu. These include the classic Miso Soup with tofu, seaweed, and leek, as well as Sake Shiru, a salmon soup with miso and wakame. As a special delicacy, there’s also Sake Chazuke, where warm broth is poured over rice and salmon. Thus, Midori is not a pure ramen restaurant in the classic sense, but a place that showcases Japanese soup cultures in their full breadth. Portions come with salad, warm rice, and homemade dressing. If you fancy something sweet afterwards: Japanese rice cakes with red bean filling and fried banana with honey are available for dessert.

A family business that enriches Steglitz culinarily

Midori is a small, owner-operated restaurant that has developed into a very popular spot in the neighborhood over the years. The chef and owner is Vietnamese but consistently cooks in the Japanese style, and with remarkable care. The atmosphere is quiet, and there are only a few tables, so reservations are recommended.

Those who venture into southwestern Berlin can also make good use of their time: The Botanical Garden in Lichterfelde is just a few minutes away, and Jungbluth on Lepsiusstraße, one of Steglitz’s most renowned restaurants, makes for a good complement for a complete evening in the district. Midori is therefore not a detour, but a real reason to visit this part of Berlin, especially if you’re looking for ramen beyond the usual hotspots.
