In the backyard of Reichenberger Straße in Kreuzberg, Buya Ramen Factory serves handmade noodle soups that are almost too good for a quick lunch. Fresh noodles, locally sourced ingredients, and about half of the menu is vegan! This is how ramen is done in Berlin.

What goes into the bowl at Buya Ramen Factory?

Buya Ramen Factory makes all its noodles and broths from scratch using its own recipes. From the first spoonful of the Crispy Duck Tonkotsu, a rich and creamy bone broth with crispy fried duck, you can taste the precision and passion that goes into the kitchen’s work. Those who prefer something lighter can opt for the Yuzu Shio Ramen, whose clear citrus broth has a surprisingly fresh finish. However, the heart of the menu for many is the Spicy TanTan Ramen, with pork mince marinated in miso, chili oil, and sesame flavor. There are also delicious alternatives for vegans and vegetarians. About 50 percent of the menu is vegan, with Tofu Chashu replacing meat with equivalent quality. Before the ramen, it’s worth checking out the Izakaya small plates, i.e., Japanese sharing plates like the Otsumami Cabbage Salad or the Agebitashi Aubergine. If you still have room, the menu also features cheesecake and ice cream. Plus, there’s sake, natural wines, and craft beer straight from the tap.

From Pop-up to Kreuzberg Fixture

What began as a pop-up in Kreuzberg in 2019 has now become a popular address on Berlin’s ramen map. Since moving to the backyard of Reichenberger Straße 36, Buya Ramen Factory has been permanently open daily from 12 PM. In summer, the courtyard transforms into one of the quieter beer gardens in the area.

Directly opposite, Chungking Noodles operates on a similar approach: homemade noodles, a small menu, and lots of craftsmanship. And if you fancy a coffee or the famous cheesecake from the neighborhood after your ramen, you’ll find Five Elephant Coffee at Reichenberger Straße 101. The open kitchen makes waiting for your bowl entertaining. To avoid a long wait, reservations are recommended, especially in the evenings after 6 PM.
