Iro Izakaya in Alt-Treptow, just a few minutes' walk from Treptower Park, brings the warm, living-room atmosphere of a Japanese izakaya to the neighborhood. Handmade ramen, sushi, and small Japanese tapas for Berliners craving particularly intense ramen.

Four Ramen Variations and a Menu Designed for Sharing

The Iro Izakaya menu in Alt-Treptow features four variations: the house-special Iro Ramen with chicken broth and duck breast, the Tantan Ramen with spicy broth, minced meat, and chili oil, a classic Tonkotsu Ramen with a broth made from oat milk and chicken stock, and the Iro Vegan Ramen with vegetable broth and tofu. This ensures the menu is well-stocked for both meat lovers and vegans. Those who prefer not to have ramen can choose from rice dishes like Gyu-Don or Katsu-Don, or explore the tapas section. Gyoza with shiitake and organic tofu, fried eggplant with homemade miso sauce, and Yasai Tempura are just the beginning. Those who stay until the end will also be rewarded with matcha ice cream. Homemade lemonades, sake, and matcha are also available. The dishes come in small portions, allowing guests to try several different items during a single visit.

A Branch with Its Own Character in an Underrated Neighborhood

Iro Izakaya is not a newcomer. The concept’s original establishment has existed for several years, first in Friedrichshain, then also in Prenzlauer Berg. The branch in Alt-Treptow on Plesser Straße is therefore the newest location, bringing izakaya culture to a neighborhood that is often gastronomically overlooked. However, an evening here is definitely worthwhile, also because the neighborhood has a lot to offer. Just a few houses away is Soulmate, a popular Vietnamese restaurant at Plesser Straße 12, which has been one of the residents’ favorite addresses for years. Together, these establishments form something like a small Asian triangle around Treptower Park. So, anyone planning an evening in Alt-Treptow will find a good foundation for ramen in Berlin here, far away from the tourist noise of the city center.
