In Berlin-Wilmersdorf, directly on Blissestraße, you’ll find Berlin’s oldest ice cream parlor. The shop has been continuously in operation since 1928. Its exterior is deliberately kept simple. Berlin’s oldest ice cream parlor looks plain and unassuming. Yet, whoever enters will be rewarded. To this day, every ice cream flavor is handmade according to original recipes. “Everything is made in-house, from the base mix to the finished scoop,” says Prisca Gatschke, owner of the Eiscafé.

An unassuming shop that, however, places great value on tradition in ice cream making and therefore still produces according to the old family recipes of its founder. At the same time, the ice cream parlor doesn’t stand still. Since 1976, Sonja Belowa has been the woman at the ice cream machine and has also developed her own additional creations over the years.

Classics, Brittle, and Pückler: What Makes Monheim So Special

The assortment at Eiscafé Monheim is considerable. Besides classics like rum truffle, roasted almond, or brittle ice cream, Grandma’s apple strudel, chili chocolate, or yogurt fig have also been very popular for many years. Eiscafé Monheim is also known for its fruit ice cream varieties such as raspberry, cherry, but also blueberry and blackcurrant. If you’re looking for something truly special: Monheim is Berlin’s only café with real Pückler ice cream.

Experiments are not done here. Instead, classics like the Swedish Sundae, Amaretto Sundae, or Black Forest Sundae with raspberry spirit and cream are on offer.
