The restaurant Der Kretaner (The Cretan) on the Argentinische Allee in Zehlendorf is known beyond the borders of the neighborhood for a fine Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. The spacious grounds surrounding the restaurant also include a playground, a large car park, a small guesthouse and a terrace with a sitting area for the summer. Contrary to the widespread typical Greek taverns in the city, the restaurant Der Kretaner is rather chic. White-covered tables, wooden beams on the ceiling, dark wood furniture, stone walls and wooden flooring dominate the room. In the restaurant with its large windows, there is also a fireplace, which ensures a cozy atmosphere in the guest room.
Specialties here are typical Cretan dishes such as Psaro piatella, a fish platter or Arni giaourti, lamb leg baked in the oven with sheep’s milk yoghurt. For the preparation of the food regional products are used. The herbs and the olive oil come directly from Crete. Some of the Cretan products can also be bought in the restaurant to take home.
During summer the food is traditionally grilled on a unique Cretan construction, which has been used in antiquity on the island of Crete.
At Der Kretaner there are also regular events such as wine tastings with typical Greek wines. Various rooms of the restaurant can be rented for events. The restaurant also offers catering.
By the way: Anyone who fancies a holiday in Crete after visiting the restaurant can book holiday homes for the next visit to Crete via the website of the restaurant.
