Restaurant Z

In Chamisso Kiez, not far from Bergmannstraße in Kreuzberg, Restaurant Z serves Greek cuisine that goes far beyond gyros and bifteki. Modern interpretations meet Mediterranean classics, organic meat, and a considerable selection of Greek wines. The "Z" stands for Zoi, Greek for life, and that's exactly what's in every dish.
Restaurant Z: Greek, but not off-the-shelf
At Friesenstraße 12 in Kreuzberg’s Chamisso Kiez, Restaurant Z has made a name for itself for good Greek cuisine. Restaurant Z is not a place for mass portions and ready-made sauces. Instead, you get Greek cuisine here that takes craftsmanship seriously. The menu offers both warm and cold mezze, including classic favorites like tzatziki, feta, and stuffed vine leaves, but also more creative dishes like lamb hip or monkfish. The meat comes from organic farming, which you can taste. The lamb variations are particularly recommended, which meat lovers will find hard to resist. The vegetarian options are also convincing, such as a spicy vegetarian moussaka or grilled eggplant.
Ambiance and Atmosphere in Kreuzberg’s Kiez
The interior of the restaurant features exposed brickwork, stripped wooden floors, and candlelight on red and white checkered tablecloths. This sounds familiar, but here it feels coherent and inviting, without slipping into cliché. There is also a generous selection of Greek wines, including the white wine Malagousia for those who want to go on a discovery journey while drinking. Finally, it’s worth taking a look at the dessert menu: lavender foam panna cotta or tiramisu are certainly worth a detour. A separate room is also available for larger groups or private parties. Restaurant Z is one of the most compelling addresses to rediscover Greek cuisine in Berlin.
