Curry Baude’s stand is located in the heritage-protected entrance area of Gesundbrunnen U-Bahn station in Berlin-Wedding and has been run by Reina Lehmann since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. For those looking for something to do after their visit: Right next to Gesundbrunnen station, you can explore an extensive bunker system with Berliner Unterwelten, which served as an air-raid shelter during World War II. Volkspark Humboldthain, with its green spaces, outdoor pool, and observation tower, is also within walking distance. Curry Baude is therefore not just a Currywurst stand, but a good starting point for a true Wedding day.

What’s on offer: Currywurst by family recipe, fries and more

As a trained butcher, Reina Lehmann offers sausage products according to her own recipe. The ketchup sauce is also a self-created family secret. The Currywurst is served with or without casing in a homemade sauce. This is exactly what particularly impressed us during our test: The curry sauce is a real curry-tomato sauce and not a typical ketchup-curry powder mixture, which clearly stands out for us compared to other stands. It comes with crispy fries, optionally with mayo or ketchup. Hamburgers, meatballs (Bouletten), meat skewers, and fries are also available. If you want to experience Currywurst in Berlin in an uncomplicated, down-to-earth way, this is the place. Vegetarian or vegan options are not the focus at Curry Baude. However, the prices are remarkably fair. At around 2.50 Euros, the Currywurst here is among the cheapest in Berlin. Open from 6 AM in the morning, Curry Baude is also one of the few stands where Currywurst for breakfast is not a bad idea.
