The Gendarmerie titled its 2018 Christmas menu 'A Feast for All Senses'. The Gendarmerie at Gendarmenmarkt in Mitte is known for German cuisine with creative accents.
Enjoy an excellent Christmas menu in the heart of the capital – this experience is offered by the Gendarmerie restaurant at Gendarmenmarkt in Mitte from December 24th to 26th, 2018. ‘A Feast for All Senses’ is what the hosts, known for traditional German cuisine with creative accents, wish it to be.
It starts with a seasonal pumpkin-ginger soup with shrimps, followed by oven-roasted breast and leg of farm duck with apple red cabbage and bread dumplings. For dessert, guests will be indulged with gingerbread parfait on blood orange carpaccio with Grand Marnier anise coulis.
The Gendarmerie is worth a visit for its chic interior alone. Upon entering the building, guests are greeted by the ‘Gendarme’, a lead-covered wooden figure specially crafted for the Gendarmerie. Inside the restaurant itself, there is a large, imposing wooden relief created by artist Jean-Yves Klein specifically for the Gendarmerie. The restaurant’s decor combines a stylish ambiance with modern flair. Complementing the dark wooden tables and matching dark brown leather armchairs, accents of pink and orange are added to the walls.
Great importance is placed on the indirect, highly pleasant lighting; romantic candle-light dinners are also possible at the Gendarmerie.
