On Köpenick’s Schlossplatz stands a completely glassed-in house where brewing actually takes place. The Schlossplatzbrauerei calls itself Germany’s smallest brewery, and at around 35 square meters, that’s no exaggeration. Through the windows, you can watch the brewmaster at work, and if you’re lucky, you can chat with him and even taste the beer. The hostess is Astrid Rubbert. Up to six home-brewed beers are available simultaneously, with Köpenick’s Old Town right outside the door.
Babylonian Beer, Köpenicker Moll, and Beer Schnapps
In addition to naturally cloudy light and dark beers, a light and a dark wheat beer, as well as Pale Ale and IPA, are on tap. More exciting are the historical and experimental brews: Babylonian Beer, Köpenicker Moll, a Medieval Hutten, Inca Beer, a beer made from Caucasian buckwheat, Cherry-Chili Beer, Maibock, Vine Beer, and a Winter Bock. The brewery also produces its own beer liqueur, beer schnapps, and a whisky lager. No food is served, as the establishment sees itself purely as a beer pub and has deliberately remained a smoking pub. In summer, seating is provided in front of the brewery building.
