Brauhaus Spandau

Since 1994, Brauhaus Spandau has been brewing its unfiltered Havelbräu in the historic brick building on Kolk, complemented by a rotating special beer each month. The copper brewing kettles are openly displayed in the guest area, and outdoors, 400 seats are spread across four beer gardens with access to the Havel river. Among Berlin's breweries, this is the location with the largest open-air space.

Brauhaus Spandau has been brewing since December 1994 in a brick building on Kolk, which originally belonged to the citadel and served as the garrison’s laundry facility from 1879. The copper brewing kettles are openly displayed in the guest area, and the old steam boiler, 2.40 meters in diameter, is now part of the decor. Approximately 1,900 hectoliters are produced annually, distributed across twelve beer specialties throughout the year. The unfiltered Spandauer Havelbräu, with its fine yeast haze and light hop note, is available year-round, while a special beer changes month by month, from Märzen to Spandauer Festbier to Christmas beer.

Four Beer Gardens, 400 Seats, and Brewery Tours

Beer is served in mugs of 0.2 and 0.4 liters, as well as in a traditional “Maßkrug” (liter mug); a 0.5-liter glass is not available here. Hearty cuisine is also offered, including pork hock, roast pork with crackling, and Wiener Schnitzel. Surrounding the building are four beer gardens with a total of 400 seats, located directly by Wröhmännerpark with access to the Havel river; in the colder months, a large marquee takes over. Those who want a look behind the scenes can book a brewery tour with tasting and a fresh pretzel, or even a full-day brewing course. The Altstadt Spandau U-Bahn station is right outside the door, and guests can round off their evening at the adjoining hotel.
