Restaurant “Zur S-Bahn Kaulsdorf

The restaurant "Zur S-Bahn Kaulsdorf" has been around for 120 years now. The excursion restaurant with S-Bahn connection on the outskirts of Berlin will once again herald the start of this year's asparagus season in mid-April 2025.
The asparagus season usually begins in mid-April at the traditional restaurant “Zur S-Bahn Kaulsdorf” and lasts until mid-June, depending on the asparagus harvest. The restaurant, which usually offers rustic German cuisine such as homemade aspic or Berlin liver, serves asparagus in a classic style, but also with a twist.
The asparagus menu includes, for example, a cream of asparagus soup with strips of Serrano ham and baguette. Depending on your appetite, the fresh asparagus is served in 300 g or 500 g portions with boiled potatoes and melted butter, homemade hollandaise sauce, or bread butter, as desired. The asparagus is accompanied by either cooked ham or Black Forest ham, a juicy pork schnitzel, a fried pike-perch fillet, or tender pork medallions. If you prefer, you can also have a hearty Argentine rump steak with asparagus.
Tip from the Top10 editorial team: Not only asparagus fans but also S-Bahn enthusiasts will love the Zur S-Bahn restaurant in Kaulsdorf, because over many years, with the help of guests, this historic restaurant has collected historical photos and old S-Bahn maps, which can be admired here. In the entrance area, old S-Bahn doors serve as room dividers, and in the front dining area, guests can sit on original S-Bahn benches.
Reservations are recommended during asparagus season.
