With over 10,000 square meters, the Hamburger Bahnhof is the largest venue of the Nationalgalerie and showcases art from 1960 to the present day. The building opened in 1846 as a terminal station for the line to Hamburg; train operations ceased as early as 1884. The Rieckhallen, saved by the State of Berlin, have been in use again since September 2024.

Berlin Mitte's Bar Tausend is first and foremost hip since you cannot see that it's a bar from the outside.

In a Wilhelminian-era building on Friedrichstraße, Alessandro Mannozzi has been continuing his father's Tuscan tradition since 2001. Bocca di Bacco features an enoteca with 500 Italian wines and a glass-enclosed kitchen with freshly made pasta. As a celebrity restaurant in Berlin-Mitte, it attracts George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon.

The French Cathedral at Gendarmenmarkt will be an unforgettable event location for the European Football Championship 2024 and will host public viewing on the atmospheric terrace of the Hugo & Notte restaurant.

Opposite the Adlon, Curry Wolf grills the Berlin currywurst with or without skin, served with twice-fried chips and the house chilli sauce Opium. As a gift for men the sausage goes over the counter in a swing-top jar, alongside a currywurst gin of its own and vouchers for a Berlin menu for two people, redeemable at both stands.

The Trippen Flagship Store is located in Courtyard 4 of the Hackesche Höfe and displays the entire range of the Berlin-based label, founded in 1991. Production takes place in Zehdenick, Brandenburg, and the leather is vegetable-tanned from Tuscany. An ankle boot starts from 304 Euros, and the in-house workshop can resole stitched soles multiple times.

Behind an unmarked steel door under the S-Bahn tracks at Schiffbauerdamm lies Bar Tausend with its restaurant Cantina. In the black-themed dining area with an open kitchen, Japanese, Iberian, and South American dishes stand side by side. Leonardo DiCaprio is said to have partied here with Bar Refaeli, provided a reservation was made.

The Admiralspalast on Friedrichstraße was built in 1911 over an accidentally discovered brine spring and once united a thermal bath, ice palace, bowling alleys, and a cinema under one roof. Today, the listed building is a guest performance venue with around 1,600 seats, a preserved Emperor's Box, and original, hand-operated stage machinery.

Located between Gendarmenmarkt and Friedrichstraße, Borchardt is Berlin's most famous celebrity restaurant. History has been made under its green stucco marble columns since 1853, reopening as a restaurant in 1992. Tom Cruise calls it his favorite restaurant in Berlin; Barack Obama and Nicole Kidman have also dined here. The Wiener Schnitzel has long achieved cult status.

The Reichstag on Republic Square has been the seat of the German Bundestag again since 1999 and welcomes well over a million guests annually for the dome and roof terrace alone. Norman Foster's glass dome measures 40 meters in diameter and consists of 800 tons of steel. Two spiral ramps lead up to a height of 40.7 meters. Admission is free, but registration is mandatory.

Mutter Hoppe is located on Rathausstraße exactly where the reconstructed Nikolaiviertel transitions into the modern era of the GDR, and from the terrace, the TV Tower, Berlin Cathedral, and Red City Hall are visible. The menu is unusually broad, ranging from Berlin Eisbein for 19.90 Euros to game dishes and its own section without fish or meat.

The first Gutenberg Bible was printed on hemp paper, van Gogh painted of course with hemp oil colours and even plastic sandals can now be made from refined hemp oil.

Hundt Hammer Stein Booksellers has been located since 2004 in the basement of a listed building in the Scheunenviertel, designed by an architectural firm in simple white. The selection focuses on independent publishers and a large variety of English-language original editions. Titles not in stock are usually ready for collection the next day.

Right at Checkpoint Charlie, the World Balloon ascends on a steel cable to 150 meters above Berlin-Mitte, with up to 30 guests in an open gondola and no glass pane between the view and the city. An ascent takes around 15 minutes and costs 32 Euros. Since the balloon only launches in suitable wind conditions, a wind hotline is included with the ticket.

Museum Island, located on the northern tip of Spree Island in Berlin-Mitte, has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999 and gathers five historic museum buildings dating from 1830 to 1930. Visitors can see the bust of Nefertiti, antiquities from Greece and Rome, and 19th-century paintings. The Pergamon Museum remains closed until 2027 due to renovation.

Since 2002, the Quatsch Comedy Club Berlin has been performing in the former Kleine Revue in the basement of the Friedrichstadt-Palast. It was founded in 1992 by Thomas Hermanns, and to this day, four comedians and a host take the stage here each evening. Additionally, there's a newcomer competition and an open mic in the bar on the upper tier.

Zur letzten Instanz is located in the Kloster district, next to a preserved section of the medieval city wall, and the back wall of the house was once part of it. Since 2020, the second generation of the Sperling family has been running the establishment, offering a weekly menu and a fixed selection of classics, from organic mustard eggs to Berliner style veal liver.

The Museum for Communication Berlin is considered the oldest postal museum in the world, founded in 1872 as the Imperial Post Museum. Its treasury houses the Blue Mauritius and the world's first telephone, along with over 60,000 historical postmarks and a globally unique stamp collection on the first floor of the building.

Eva Sichelschmidt has run a specialist shop on Sophienstrasse since 1997, with several hundred whisky bottlings, around a hundred rums and a computer-controlled cigar cabinet. Eugen Kasparek leads three-hour tastings as master of tasting. As a gift for men you give a whole evening here rather than just a bottle.

do you read me?! is located on Auguststraße, between the galleries of Spandauer Vorstadt, and houses around 2,000 titles from over twenty countries within a few square meters. The focus is on international magazines, with dedicated sections for Japanese issues and rare books. Magazines cost between twelve and thirty euros.

Hidden in a Wilhelminian old building on Weinbergsweg in Berlin-Mitte is one of the city's most remarkable design hotels: The Gorki Apartments combine Berlin living culture with boutique hotel comfort, without sacrificing anonymity. Instead of room numbers, there are engraved keys, instead of a lobby, a green courtyard.

Wonderpots mixes its frozen yogurt every day fresh in the store. The yogurt used is a fresh, organic-certified, low-fat yogurt of only 1,8 % fat.

On Oderberger Strasse guests sit on second hand furniture from the fifties and eat waffles, available in fourteen sweet and five savoury versions. The savoury ones are made from buttermilk batter and come with salmon, goat cheese or mozzarella. The brand began in 2002 with exactly this mix of cafe and second hand interior.

The Trabi Safari is a city tour in a vintage GDR car, affectionately nicknamed "Trabi". These little cars have earned cult status in the meantime and in a convoi of up to six vehicles you get to experience Berlin in a special way.
