For me, there’s hardly a better way to escape Berlin’s daily grind than a day trip to one of Brandenburg’s thermal spas. The warm water, the sauna areas, the scent of eucalyptus, and that feeling of heading home completely relaxed afterward—that’s exactly why this little trip to the surrounding area is worth it. For this list, I visited various spas and paid attention to water quality, cleanliness, the variety of treatments, and the atmosphere. Grab your swimwear and treat yourself to a lovely, relaxing day of wellness!

The Spreewald Therme in Burg is considered Brandenburg's ultimate thermal brine spa: water from 1,350 meters deep, seven saunas, and wellness treatments with regional Spreewald herbs in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. No wonder it was crowned the nationwide spa ranking winner in 2025.

In Bad Wilsnack, a spa town in the Prignitz region, lies the ultimate Brandenburg idyll: the Kristall-Therme brings the Dead Sea to the northwest of the state, combining iron and iodine-rich thermal brine healing water from over 1,000 meters deep with eight themed saunas and a wellness garden that invites relaxation.

The SaarowTherme in Bad Saarow is one of Brandenburg's most popular wellness destinations, located just about an hour from Berlin. The thermal bath is fed by the 450-meter-deep Catharinenquelle, whose natural thermal brine creates ideal conditions for regeneration, new energy, and a soothing break from city life.

Just an hour's drive from Berlin, in the Hoher Fläming region, Bad Belzig is home to one of Brandenburg's most remarkable thermal spa landscapes. The SteinTherme draws its healing power from iodine-rich thermal brine, gushing from a depth of 775 meters, bringing body and mind to a tranquility not found in the city.

NaturTherme Templin is the "small sea of Uckermark". Located about 80 kilometers north of Berlin, it draws real thermal brine water from a depth of 1,650 meters and combines bathing pleasure, sauna culture, and wellness under one roof. There are also plenty of offers for children for water play and fun.

In the municipality of Krausnick, about 60 kilometers south of Berlin, a whole piece of the South Seas slumbers under a gigantic dome. Tropical Islands is considered Europe's largest tropical holiday world and attracts families and wellness lovers alike with warm sand, an artificially created rainforest, and an extensive sauna landscape.

The Lausitztherme Wonnemar in Bad Liebenwerda is the wellness center of the southern Lower Lusatia, combining a fun pool, mineral forum, and sauna world under one roof. After an extensive renovation for approximately 18 million Euros, it presents itself today more spacious, peaceful, and versatile than ever before.

The Fontane Therme in Neuruppin is Brandenburg's most renowned wellness destination directly on Lake Ruppin. With Germany's largest floating lake sauna, certified healing water, and an expansive spa area, it combines genuine natural scenery with a well-conceived thermal spa concept.

The Fläming Therme Luckenwalde, located about 50 kilometers south of Berlin, has been Brandenburg's down-to-earth answer to wellness and bathing fun since 2000: a versatile sauna landscape, adventure pools, and an atmosphere that works equally well for families and adults.

Located at the southern tip of Lake Scharmützelsee in Wendisch Rietz, the SATAMA Sauna Resort & Spa offers arguably the most extraordinary sauna experience between Brandenburg and Berlin. Spanning 6,000 square meters, the resort combines Nordic sauna culture with spectacular show infusions in its own theater, transforming a wellness day into a truly special experience.
