At the claï studio ceramic atelier on Christinenstraße, Stefanie Opitz throws her own ceramics and teaches small groups on the potter's wheel. A one-day course costs 90 Euros, the four-part series costs 260 Euros, and vouchers are available for courses as well as for everything from her own collection. The atelier is located in a coach house in the backyard.

A Ceramic Atelier in the Coach House at Teutoburger Platz

Christinenstraße is located in Prenzlauer Berg, right next to Teutoburger Platz, and at house number 32, the path leads not to a shop front, but through the courtyard into a coach house. This is where claï studio operates, and the path there already makes it clear that this is not a shop for casual passers-by. Connectivity is convenient, as the U2 Senefelderplatz subway station is about five minutes away, and tram M1 stops at Zionskirchplatz. Getting there by car is difficult because resident parking applies around Teutoburger Platz, and the streets are full during the day. The workshop space itself is bright and tidy, with potter’s wheels, shelves full of blanks, and glaze samples on the wall. Stefanie Opitz founded the atelier in 2021, designing and throwing all pieces herself. Her design language is restrained, working with natural tones and calm surfaces. The workshop is not open continuously but at fixed studio hours and for booked courses.

Pottery Courses on the Potter’s Wheel and Vouchers for Gifting

At claï studio, courses are particularly suitable as gifts, available in several durations. The entry-level course is called Try the Wheel for Beginners and lasts one day on the potter’s wheel, costing 90 Euros. Those who wish to delve deeper can book the four-session series for 260 Euros; additionally, there is a weekend format and a workshop that combines pottery with meditation. No prior experience is needed; teaching takes place in small groups, and at the end, each participant takes home a piece they have thrown themselves. Those who prefer to give finished ceramics will find the house’s collections with cups, bowls, plates, and vases, as well as a clay Gua Sha stone as a small gift. However, the online shop is often largely sold out; much more is available in the atelier. For those who are undecided, the house offers three types of vouchers: one for the potter’s wheel class, one for the meditation workshop, and a value voucher that can also be redeemed for open studio hours. If you are planning a course gift, you should book early, as groups are small and individual formats have recently been fully booked.
