In the Kollwitzkiez at the Goehrener Ei, a Berlin workshop has been designing fashion jewellery in small batches since 2001. Development and assembly happen in its own studio, while casting and electroplating are done by specialist firms in Idar Oberstein and Pforzheim. Broken chains are repaired in house, some of them straight away.

Sredzkistraße stretches from Kollwitzplatz down to Göhrener Ei, that small round square that is one of the quieter corners of Prenzlauer Berg. Behind house number 56 is TomShot, and the store is more than just a sales area. Since 2001, fashion jewelry in small batches has been created here, designed and assembled in their own Berlin studio. For metal casting, soldering, and electroplating, the company collaborates with specialized businesses in Idar-Oberstein and Pforzheim, and the materials primarily come from suppliers in Idar-Oberstein, Paris, and Milan. The company is run by Monika Duhme. In addition to their own designs, the shelves feature a curated selection of other labels, including Ayala Bar, Guanabana Handmade, LeJu London, Pernille Corydon, Vanessa Baroni, Lineargent, RIO Berlin, and Raspe Schmuckdesign. This is complemented by accessories from Inoui Editions and Becksöndergaard, as well as hair ties from Bon Dep. The address can be reached via tram M10 at Husemannstraße, via lines M2 and M10 at Prenzlauer Allee, and via the Eberswalder Straße subway station.

Brass, recycled silver, and a repair service

In terms of materials, TomShot doesn’t cut corners, and that’s worth knowing because fashion jewelry can otherwise quickly become a disposable product. The collection consists of high-quality coated brass, the gilding is real eighteen-carat gold, and silver-plated parts also receive a rhodium layer for tarnish protection. The solid sterling silver line contains a high proportion of recycled silver, and gilding there is of vermeil quality. Only glass components and wooden beads from sustainable forestry are used as beads; all pieces are nickel-free and anti-allergenic. The assortment ranges from earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings to charms, as well as phone and key chains and scarves. A solid silver ring costs 179 Euros, a dachshund-shaped charm 29 Euros. The repair service is particularly practical: jewelry can be dropped off at the store, some repairs are done immediately, others are sent out for service after consultation. Broken chains can also be bought individually instead of replacing the entire piece. Gift vouchers are available in denominations from 20 to 150 Euros.
