In the Kollwitzkiez at the Goehrener Ei, a Berlin workshop has been designing fashion jewellery in small batches since 2001. Development and assembly happen in its own studio, while casting and electroplating are done by specialist firms in Idar Oberstein and Pforzheim. Broken chains are repaired in house, some of them straight away.
Lilienthal Berlin designs watches in the spirit of the Bauhaus in Friedrichshain and sells them almost entirely through its own online shop. The brand name goes back to the aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal, the movements come from Sellita and Miyota, the entry model costs 189 euros, and the team has collected over thirty design prizes.
Eastgate Berlin is the large shopping center in the northeast of the city, directly connected to the Marzahn S-Bahn station via a pedestrian bridge. Across two shopping levels and 32,000 square meters, it houses around 150 shops, over eighty of which are in the fashion sector. Four large rotundas bring natural light down to the lower levels.
