Beverly Berlin - Upcycling Fashion + Accessoires

In a Neukölln studio, unique handmade items are created from old ties, used shirts, and recycled moving blankets. Each piece exists only once, nothing is reproduced. No new fabric is produced for the brand's clothing and accessories. Sales are made through their own shop and at events, not through an open retail store.
Upcycling Studio in Spremberger Straße in the Reuter Quarter
Spremberger Straße is located between Bürknerstraße and Schinkestraße in the middle of the Reuter Quarter and is one of those short side streets in Neukölln where you wouldn’t expect anything. At house number 2, Ulla Heinz works on her unique pieces. Important to know before you set off: Beverly Berlin is a studio and not a retail store that you can simply walk into. Sales are made through their own shop and especially at events, where the full range can be seen, while only a selection is available online. The designer founded her label in 2018; previously, the studio was located in Kreuzberg. Sewing takes place in Berlin, supplemented by partner companies in Germany. The address is accessible via the Schönleinstraße subway station; Hermannplatz is also within walking distance. Anyone familiar with the district knows that the area around the Reuter Quarter has had a high density of small labels for years, which you would search for in vain in the shopping streets of the city center. Beverly Berlin belongs to this series but works more radically than most, because no new material is purchased here at all.
Old Ties become Necklaces, Moving Blankets become Bags
The principle behind Beverly Berlin is quickly told yet unusually consistent: no new fabric is produced for the clothing and accessories. The materials are old ties, used shirts, vintage textiles, and moving blankets made from recycled fabric scraps. Silk comes exclusively from old ties, ribbons and buttons mainly from donations, and bags are created from the moving blankets. Each item is a unique piece that is not reproduced. The range extends from tie necklaces and collar necklaces, scarves and tie scarves, to belts, bags, tops, skirts, jackets, and its own workwear line. A tie necklace costs 39.90 Euros, a tie scarf 34.90 Euros. Important to understand: this is not second-hand goods, but new goods made from used materials, and the difference is clearly visible in the craftsmanship. Shipping is available to twelve countries; within Germany, it’s free for purchases over 80 Euros. Gift vouchers are also available. Those who want to see new arrivals first can find them via the newsletter two days before everyone else. Since each piece exists only once, this is not a marketing promise but practically the only way to secure a specific item.
