For this list I searched Berlin for birthday locations that offer more than a reserved table. I was looking for unusual places where larger groups feel comfortable: one on the water, one inside an old water tower, one in a theatre hall from 1906. I made sure there is something for different tastes and group sizes, so the birthday stays in good memory.
The former cocktail bar on Nestorstraße was completely converted into a Hollywood set in 2023: checkerboard floor, red diner furniture, and black-and-white portraits of film icons across 190 square meters. As a special birthday venue in Berlin, the Famous Liquor Store scores with a stage, dance floor, and drink packages starting from 40 Euros per person.
The Floating Lounge is located on a moored ship in the Spree, twenty meters from the East Side Gallery, with a view of the Oberbaumbrücke. Depending on the setup, it can be booked exclusively for 20 to 120 people; the indoor area is heated and weather-protected. As a birthday venue in Friedrichshain, it operates year-round.
The building on Nollendorfplatz opened in 1906 as the Neues Schauspielhaus, is a listed building in Berlin, and features a 14-meter-high main hall with Murano glass chandeliers. For a birthday celebration in Berlin, options range from a private room in the old Emperor's Box to a hall for 850 guests, with in-house technology and kitchen.
The brick tower from 1900 stands on the Lindwerderberg above the Obersee, the highest natural point of Alt-Hohenschönhausen. Below it is a bar with a semi-circular counter, gallery, and terrace overlooking the water, opposite the Mies van der Rohe House. As a birthday venue in Berlin, it is rented in eight-hour blocks for approximately 50 guests.
Behind the gas station at Schlesisches Tor, an embankment leads down to the Flutgraben, where a wooden structure from the 1930s stands: formerly the boathouse of a Spree fisherman, today the Freischwimmer with a fireplace room, pier, and its own island garden. The school gym from 1954 on Holteistraße is now a 280-square-meter hall with original parquet flooring, ladder rungs on the walls, and nearly seven meters of ceiling height, plus a 1,200-square-meter summer garden. Since 1995, Café Re has been located on Märkisches Ufer in Mitte, directly on a Spree arm by the small harbor, with tables by the water and an unobstructed view of the TV Tower. The menu features Berlin Boulettes for 9.90 Euros and Kindl on tap. It's the laid-back option for a birthday venue in Berlin; reservations are made by phone.
From Stralau Harbor in Friedrichshain, three event ships and eight historic boats depart, including the fully electric MS Stralau for up to 100 guests, the heated Arcona from 1905, and a mahogany Rivabus from 1950. Two hours of charter cost between 385 and 1,850 Euros, crew included. For a birthday, this means: The venue travels with you.
In a former vacuum cleaner factory on Hobrechtstraße, GDR caravans and self-built wooden huts have occupied over 600 square meters of hall space since 2010. One hall can be booked exclusively for about twelve to fourteen guests, and workshops accommodate up to 30 people. As a birthday location in Neukölln, this means indoor camping with overnight stays.
The wine house dates back to 1779 and was a Royal Court Supplier from 1824. Today, it is located on Luisenstraße behind the Reichstag. Celebrations are held in the Weinbogen, an entire arch of the city railway accommodating 130 guests, in the wine shop among wine barrels, or in two cellar private rooms for eight people or more. Over 100 selected wines are available.
