Das Filmcafé

The Filmcafé Prenzlauer Berg is a cozy, owner-operated neighborhood meeting point near Helmholtzplatz. The Filmcafé offers a good mix of bar gastronomy and cinematic passion. There is a friendly atmosphere. The owners are relaxed and serve small dishes like toast, burgers, or chili con carne and delicious drinks like cocktails, long drinks, or freshly tapped beer, all at fair prices. On Tuesdays, risk-takers can roll the dice for the price of their cocktail. Recently, the Filmcafé started serving schnitzel daily.

The Filmcafé is furnished with cozy retro-style sofas that can be purchased by visitors. Each table glows in the light of a different 70s lamp model, from yellow to red. The walls are decorated with stylish movie posters of great film stars.

Football fans and Tatort addicts are in good hands at the Filmcafé. All important Bundesliga, Champions League, or Europa League matches are broadcast live and in HD via Sky (Premiere) on a screen in the back of the bar. On Sunday evenings at 20:15, Tatort fans gather at the Filmcafé. The atmosphere is relaxed. People meet for a joint TV evening with snacks and drinks.

Stairs in the bar lead down to the DOWNSTAIRS Kino, which, according to its own statement, is “Berlin’s most beautiful small cinema”. The small cinema consists of 28 cinema seats and 2 sofa spaces. Here, 2-3 selected films are shown per week, mostly independent films, documentaries, or film biographies in their original language.

The DOWNSTAIRS Kino regularly hosts special events of all kinds, such as its own film quiz, the broadcast of the Oscar night, and boys’ and girls’ evenings. The Filmcafé can also be rented for individual film events, parties, or company celebrations. The Filmcafé Prenzlauer Berg is a non-smoking café and offers free Wi-Fi.
