The SEVEN Community Record Store on Torstraße is a record shop run by DJs for DJs: the focus is on house and techno on vinyl, from deep house to dub techno, along with its own labels and crates from Dekmantel to Kompakt. Four Technics listening stations are set up for a listen before buying. Among the record stores in Berlin, this is the address for club music in Mitte.
Since 2002, Golden Gate has been located in an arch of the S-Bahn viaduct at Jannowitzbrücke. The premises belong to the railway, and trains run overhead. Upstairs, there are sofas and a piano; downstairs, techno and tech house play. As a techno club in Berlin, it operates consistently analog, as there is only a box office and cash payment.
In the Bergmannkiez, in the heart of Kreuzberg, resides one of Berlin's largest record stores: Spacehall combines an impressive vinyl assortment across three rooms, focusing on electronic music from House to Techno to Minimal, and has long achieved the status of a true Berlin institution.
Even if this record store has moved from Mitte to Friedrichshain in the meantime, the name Mitte Musik Recordstore remains, as does the well-assorted range of electronic music!
Club der Visionäre is a wooden structure on the Flutgraben with a single floor where a maximum of fifty people can dance. There are also jetties over the water, a willow tree above the dance floor, and its own pizzeria. Among Berlin's techno clubs, it is the smallest and has the lowest entry fee; Ricardo Villalobos became famous here.
The MS Hoppetosse is an excursion steamer from 1928, which was sunk in 1944, later salvaged, and in the nineties, cut into pieces and dragged to Berlin. Today it lies in Osthafen, with three decks, featuring Minimal House from the Club der Visionäre team. Of all techno clubs in Berlin, this is the only one where you can experience the sunrise while swaying.
