Cook, meet, move on: jumpingdinner is Berlin's most famous blind-date cooking event, where singles and non-singles move through apartments in Neukölln and Kreuzberg on a Saturday evening, meeting new people at the table with each course.
The Concept: Three Courses, Three Apartments, Twelve New Faces
jumpingdinner combines the enjoyment of a 3-course dinner with the experience of meeting nice people in a private atmosphere: Each course is served in a different apartment. Since the composition of guests changes with each course, participants get to know up to twelve new people during the evening. The rule is: Cooking is always done in teams of two, and only one of the three courses, so that in addition to the shared activity, there’s also time to simply enjoy. So, at the 3-course jumpingdinner, you are a host once and a guest twice.
Those who register alone will be assigned a cooking partner. The contact details of the respective participant are passed on by the organizer, giving jumpingdinner a definite blind-date character. When registering, you can also specify whether you prefer a male or female cooking partner. A vegetarian option is also available.
jumpingdinner Berlin: When, Where, and What it Costs
Berlin is the birthplace of jumpingdinner, as the concept was launched here in 2004. Since then, the cooking date event takes place regularly, always on a Saturday. Participation costs 26 Euros including VAT, which covers organization and a welcome sparkling wine at the final get-together. Additionally, there are expenses for ingredients and other drinks at the finale.
Because after dessert, the evening is far from over. As soon as the last course is served, all participants gather for a cozy jumpingdinner come-together in a bar. On average, guests are between 30 and 40 years old. Thus, jumpingdinner is not just a weekend tip for singles looking for a partner, but generally for anyone who wants to easily meet new people in Berlin.
