The Eva is a small independent neighborhood cinema with a sophisticated program and less commercial productions.

Founded in 1913 Eva Lichtspiele is the oldest cinema in Berlins district Wilmersdorf. The mundane neon letters above the entrance may give you an idea about how old this cinema is. When entering you’re taken back to Berlin in the 1920s: red plissé walls, a voluminous cloud-like white curtain in front of the screen and green wood paneling.

Back in the 20s films that were screened here had orchestra support. Even during WWII the building remained mostly undamaged which is why the business was able to keep going. These days sophisticated movies are screened here, but they also keep on showing movies for families with kids.

Two tips for lovers: In the very back of the cinema you can find a cozy leather couch for cuddling up and should you want to propose to your special someone here – not a problem. Before the movie starts you can conspire with the owner to screen your wedding proposal!
