Museum of Letters

The letter "U" from a U-Bahn station, the "le" from Alexanderplatz or the famous "Zierfische" logo of the now closed aquaristics shop at Frankfurter Tor: Barbara Dechant and Anja Schulze have saved letters from the Berlin public since 2005.

The museum owners do not only preserve nice letters but also the history behind them. Why was the logo of the department store Hertie dumped into the Spree? Why has only one “E” survived from filming “Inglorious Basterds”? And why were there once the letter “HAUP” visible on today’s Ostbahnhof? Next to pupils learning the ABC, also design enthusiasts and graphologists are all enthused about the exhibits, some of them up to 3 metres high and weighing 150 kg.
