Café am Neuen See

In the middle of Tiergarten, right by the water: Café am Neuen See is one of Berlin's most famous beer gardens. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this green oasis in City-West transforms into one of the city's most atmospheric public viewing locations.
Café am Neuen See: Beer Garden with History in the Heart of Berlin
The Café am Neuen See has existed since 1896, making it not only one of Berlin’s oldest cafés but also one of its most enduring. Additionally, the beer garden is located in the Tiergarten and just a few minutes’ walk from the Zoological Garden, directly by the lake of the same name. In good weather, visitors can enjoy freshly tapped beer, Bavarian and regional specialties in the beer garden until after sunset. Those who prefer to sit indoors will also find a spot in the restaurant.
There’s also variety in the drinks. A highlight are the homemade lemonades with little sugar and no artificial flavors. Prices, corresponding to its location in the heart of Berlin, are upscale but not excessive. A beer in the beer garden costs around 5 to 6 Euros.
Those who have some time before or after the game can also take a stroll. The boat rental restarts in spring 2026, Monday to Friday from 12 PM, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 11 AM. The price is 14 Euros per hour. A walk through the Tiergarten itself is also worthwhile, stretching from Potsdamer Platz to the government district and from the Brandenburg Gate to the Berlin Zoo.
Public Viewing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup: Why Café am Neuen See is Such a Good Fit
When it comes to public viewing, the café is no stranger to public viewing in Berlin. Already for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 European Championship, the beer garden was a regular fixture. The venue traditionally invited guests for public viewing in the cozy restaurant and beer garden in Berlin’s Tiergarten. All games live on a large screen and numerous monitors.
The traditional beer garden in the heart of City-West is considered one of the capital’s best public viewing locations, and it will be no different for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. During public viewing at Café am Neuen See, you can enjoy exciting games outdoors, surrounded by nature and like-minded people. Admission is free.
For the German national team’s matches, it’s advisable to arrive early, as the coveted spots are quickly taken. However, those who arrive early enough secure one of the many seats in the beer garden, which accommodates hundreds of guests. The beer garden is one of the inner-city open-air classics: in good weather, hundreds gather at the beer tables, enjoying the shade-giving Tiergarten trees and the view of the water.
Furthermore, the atmosphere for watching football here is different from that at the fan mile. This is a place with a very special ambiance: after a walk in the Tiergarten or a rowboat trip on the Neuer See, you can stop here and watch the games on a large screen in both the restaurant and the beer garden with good food. Public viewing in Berlin hardly gets more relaxed and greener.
