Alain Snack

During GDR times, the Ketwurst was East Germany's hot dog. Nowadays, it can only be found in a few places in Berlin. One of them is the snack bar Alain Snack, directly opposite the Schönhauser Allee Arcaden.
In this otherwise completely gentrified area in Prenzlauer Berg, this institution has survived the Wende (turnaround) and continues to serve the East German specialty as follows: dipping a bockwurst in ketchup and stuffing it into a soft bun that is baked from the inside. Incidentally, the employees’ Berliner Schnauze (Berlin dialect/bluntness) is just as authentic. Top10 editorial tip: In summer, enjoy a delicious soft-serve ice cream here for dessert.
