The listed court complex, renovated at great expense in the 1990s has revived this part of Berlin-Mitte, commonly known as Spandauer Vorstadt.

There are nine individual but interconnected courts which accommodate some shops, among others with fashion from young designers and an Ampelmann store, a lot of restaurants and bars with places like Bar Oxymoron for example, and many cultural venues such as a movie theatre or the music hall-theatre Chamäleon. In a nutshell: The courts of Hackesche Höfe are among the top Berlin sights with a large potential for discoveries and new experiences!

The movie theatre there shows many original versions (with subtitles). A lot of English screenings but also movies in French, Arabic, Turkish, Norwegian, Spanish and Polish.
