The city lidos, mostly located by beautiful lakes, offer summer bathing fun with comfort. Unlike at free bathing spots, you pay an entrance fee here, but in return you get changing rooms, catering and often a varied range of sports. The legendary classic is the Strandbad Wannsee in Nikolassee, the Seebad Friedrichshagen entices with an idyll right by the water, and the Strandbad Jungfernheide in Charlottenburg combines a fine sandy beach with wakeboarding and stand-up paddling. Anyone who prefers a family atmosphere is in good hands at the Strandbad Luebars in the green north or the nearby Strandbad Weissensee. So every age group finds its favourite beach. As soon as the temperatures rise, I pack my towel and head out to the water. What I like best is ending up at the Strandbad Jungfernheide, where I can switch between sunbathing and stand-up paddling. When I want something classic, nothing beats the sprawling Strandbad Wannsee. For me, this list is the timetable through the Berlin bathing summer.
