Klo in Charlottenburg is Berlin's most eccentric experience pub, right on the Ku'damm. Since 1971, this cult bar has been serving beer in urinal bottles, making tables fly into the air, and greeting guests with a jet of water. If you prefer your pub nights unforgettable rather than cozy, this is the perfect place for you.
A Visit to the Cult Pub Klo: Berlin’s Wildest Fun Activity on the Ku’damm
The experience pub Klo is located in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin, very close to Kurfürstendamm. More precisely, you can find it at Leibnizstraße 57, and it has been there since the 70s, without anything having changed since then. Klo is not a concept that has been imitated. It is the original.
The entrance alone makes it clear what you’re getting into. Once past the bouncer, a jet of water immediately hits you, and hot air from the floor lifts skirts to immodest heights. Then it continues. Inside, tables rise, bar stools tip over, and puppets pound guests’ heads with hammers from the ceiling. So, anyone who thinks they just want to drink a beer will quickly be disabused of that notion.
True to its name, seating is on toilets. Beer is served in urinal bottles, and shots come in test tubes. The currywurst, available in various levels of spiciness, is deliciously served in a kidney dish from the operating room. And for those who want to pour their own: In addition to the world-famous XL currywurst, there’s also self-pour beer. You buy a card for 5, 10, or even 20 liters of Pils, insert it into the beer fountain at the table, and start pouring.
Who is Klo for?
This pub is very popular with tourists, but also with many Berliners who consider Klo their regular pub. So, anyone who thinks it’s only for travelers is greatly mistaken. Furthermore, it’s true: if you don’t like coarse humor or take yourself too seriously, you’re in the wrong place. Everyone else will have a great time.
Klo is particularly well-suited for groups and circles of friends looking for an evening with a real experience factor. Additionally, there is the option to rent the restaurant on selected days. On these days, Klo is closed, but the rest of the house is available for a private celebration. Upon request, Klo also opens on Sundays for company parties. Due to its enormous popularity, it is advisable to submit a booking inquiry early.
