Singerstraße 51

The filming location for the cult film: A simple pre-fabricated building in the Friedrichshain district, not far from Ostbahnhof, at Singerstraße 51. In the film, Paul lives in this very ‘Platte’ (pre-fab building), which was both a highly sought-after residence and a status symbol in the GDR. In the story, Paula lives directly opposite in an old building, which is now a supermarket.

But the two apartments are not the only film locations for “Paul and Paula” fans. Not far away, on Lake Rummelsburg, is the “Paul-und-Paula-Ufer” (Paul and Paula Embankment). This is where the famous scene with the barge was filmed. For lovers, there is also a “Paul and Paula Bench” on the embankment.
