Eierschale Dahlem

The Eierschale is located in the Landhaus Dahlem opposite the U-Bahn station Podbielskiallee and serves a large brunch buffet for 20.90 Euros on Sundays and public holidays. The name dates back to the fifties, when the venue was a meeting point for the West Berlin jazz scene. Today, it includes a terrace, garden, and stone oven pizza.

The Eierschale is located in the Landhaus Dahlem directly opposite the U-Bahn station Podbielskiallee. On Sundays and public holidays, there is a large brunch buffet, 20.90 Euros per person on Sundays, 22.90 Euros on public holidays, drinks are extra. The establishment includes a restaurant, café, bar, and lounge, plus a terrace with 60 seats and a garden. The upper floor can accommodate up to 300 people.

The name has history. The Eierschale started in the fifties in a basement venue, named after the egg cartons on the walls that were supposed to absorb sound. At Breitenbachplatz, it became a meeting point for the West Berlin jazz scene; reports recall visits from Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.

From Jazz Cellar to Country House

In 1977, the Eierschale moved to Podbielskiallee, featuring concerts and a regular jazz matinee. After years of closure, it reopened on June 1, 2008, with the New Orleans Sir Gusche Band playing for the reopening. Since then, the Neeman family has run the establishment, with Khaled Neeman currently listed in the imprint.

Anyone coming for the jazz should know one thing: it belongs to the history of the house, not to the current program. The only music format today is the FrühTanz with disco hits from the seventies to the two thousands, which is organized by an external promoter. The cuisine is international, plus stone oven pizza with a 36-centimeter diameter. Parking in Dahlem is free; the district has no parking management there and is not planning any.
