On Sonnenallee, this small restaurant shows how West African food truly tastes when cooked with authentic recipes and respect for its origin.
Jollof Rice, Fufu, and Pepper Soup: One of the Best African Restaurants in Berlin
The name Didi Pa comes from the Ghanaian language Twi and means “eat well”. This promise is indeed fulfilled in the kitchen. The menu features classics of West African cuisine: spicy pepper soup, Jollof rice with fish or chicken, fried plantains, and Rot Rot, which is black-eyed peas in a tomato stew, served with Gari. Fufu with peanut-tomato soup is also on offer and is among the dishes that diners rave about. Additionally, there are yam dishes and fresh fish dishes with tilapia. Those who don’t want meat will still find something, as many dishes are also available vegan or vegetarian. For drinks, it’s worth checking out Malta Guinness, the malty West African soft drink that pairs very well with the food here.
Since 2020 on Sonnenallee, in the midst of a vibrant culinary district
Didi Pa opened around 2020 as a West African snack bar on Sonnenallee 31 in Neukölln and has since established itself as a staple for Ghanaian cuisine in the city. Sonnenallee itself is a place that is hard to beat culinarily. If you’re still hungry for other cuisines after your visit, just around the corner you’ll find Azzam, legendary in Berlin foodie circles for its exceptional hummus. The Turkish market on Maybachufer, which takes place twice a week, is also only a few minutes’ walk away and a good reason to extend your trip to Neukölln.
