The chic Bar Coda in Berlin-Neukölln concentrates exclusively on desserts and is the only pure dessert restaurant in Germany. In the puristic bar with pure stone walls, simple wooden furniture and a central bar, the owners create their appealing, fine menus every evening. The desserts served as tapas are offered here as a 6-course meal. René Frank, award-winning patissier of the star restaurant “La Vie” in Osnabrück, has teamed up with Oliver Bischoff, managing director of a design office, to fulfill the dream of a perfect dessert bar concept. Good-sounding dessert tapas such as eggplant with pecan nut and apple balsamic or fig with hazelnut and anchovy are served with pairing drinks such as Oolong tea, Sherry Oloroso and Cassis, Ruby Port.

Almost every ingredient used in the dessert creations is homemade. Either fruit, cheese or root vegetables – René Frank experiments with all sorts of techniques and unusual flavors and textures. Each of the desserts plays with the combination of salt, sweetness and acidity. Sugar is hardly ever used. It is instead worked with the basic sweetness of the products.

Nice to know: From 09:00 pm on guests can order a smaller meal with just four courses or even a tasting menu consisting of three courses. Also; drinks that are individually tailored to each course can be selected.
