Those who find their way through two Berlin courtyards in Anklamer Straße in Mitte will be rewarded with creative international tapas that invite sharing. HeimlichTreu focuses on seasonal cuisine with French influences, a Nordic feel-good atmosphere, and unique cocktails not found elsewhere.

International Tapas in Seclusion

Those who seek HeimlichTreu must first earn it. Hidden in the backyard of an entrance on Anklamer Straße in Berlin-Mitte, visitors discover the cozy restaurant. The small expedition is definitely worthwhile. The hidden location indeed gives the place a touch of secrecy, but it can no longer operate entirely in secret, as its quality has become too well-known.

The concept is as clear as it is convincing. HeimlichTreu cooks according to the sharing principle: all dishes are served on plates for sharing. „Bissig” (sharp) and „fließend” (flowing) is what’s on the menu, with the „Bissig” options being refined and international. The international tapas each consist of three components, such as tuna with pumpkin and grappa or venison carpaccio with coffee and milk. In the evenings, according to the judgment of many regular guests, the menu tends to show more creativity and better fish compositions than at lunchtime.

Heimlich Treu: Cuisine with Standards, Atmosphere with Character

Head chef Arne Halit cooks his international recipes with influences from French and local cuisine. The quality is no accident. The members of the kitchen team have previously cooked in renowned Berlin restaurants such as First Floor or Store Kitchen at Soho House. Those looking for something special to drink will also find it here. Exceptional essences such as fir, patchouli, or bergamot are used for cocktails and homemade sodas.

The restaurant’s ambiance also contributes to the overall effect. The interior design concept of the surprisingly spacious restaurant is based on the Nordic country house style: earthy tones and whitewashed brick walls dominate, cozy furs on the floor and cushions on the wooden furniture complement the atmosphere. There is also a large, quiet outdoor terrace. If you want a table, you should book in advance. HeimlichTreu is often booked for private celebrations, and garden seats are often taken early for weddings or corporate events.
