Zaika in Prenzlauer Berg stands for authentic Indian cuisine that deliberately sets itself apart from the mainstream. Those lucky enough to get a table here can look forward to freshly prepared dishes, warm natural stone walls, and an atmosphere where many neighborhood guests have become regulars.

Zaika in Prenzlauer Berg: Indian Cuisine Beyond Clichés

The Indian restaurant Zaika in Prenzlauer Berg is different from most of its kind in the city. Owner Harinder Singh places great emphasis on both the decor and the preparation of the dishes differing from common Indian restaurants. Instead of standard curries from a large pot, every dish here is freshly prepared to order from the kitchen.

Zaika: The Name Says It All

“Zaika” literally means “highly developed flavors” or simply: taste. And this name is a commitment to the establishment. Authentic Indian cuisine is served here; all dishes are freshly cooked to order. Particularly popular is the red and yellow lentil soup with spices like chili, turmeric, mustard seeds, and coconut, which even earned the restaurant a television award. The menu also features various chicken curry variations, traditional vegetarian dishes like Palak Paneer, lamb dishes, and a selection of Tandoori specialties. In addition to mild dishes from North India, there are also subtly spicy dishes from South India – the range is considerable.

Atmosphere and What Comes With It

At Zaika, guests sit between natural stone walls, in subdued light and by candlelight at wooden tables. A separate room is available in the basement for private events, where groups can celebrate and dine. If you want to sit outside: Zaika also offers outdoor seating, which perfectly captures the street cafe feeling in Prenzlauer Berg when the weather is good. In any case, it is advisable to reserve in advance, as it is difficult to get a spot without a reservation – especially on weekends, many regular guests from the neighborhood come for a cozy dinner. Convenient: From Monday to Friday, daily menus are offered between 12 PM and 4 PM at affordable prices starting from 5.90 Euros.
