Right next to Kollwitzstraße in Prenzlauer Berg the Indian restaurant Khushi offers a wide selection of dishes that represent the diversity of India. No matter whether it is Northern Indian Tandoori or the spicy curries from the South Indian cuisine such as the Chicken Madras – all dishes are freshly prepared and taste particularly aromatic here. Especially with the spicy food you will notice that the spiciness does not dominate the taste and that the other exotic components are also noticeable. A selection of not only vegetarian but also vegan dishes is offered at Kushi. The heart of the kitchen is the original Indian clay oven where the traditional breads and meat dishes are specially prepared.
You can either sit outside on the street or at one of the many tables inside the restaurant. In the entrance area a large illuminated bar dominates the room. Some seats at the big windows even offer a view on the hustle and bustle in the popular Kiez. A small staircase leads to the gallery, where many more tables are provided. Typical Indian decor elements predominantly in gold and red complement the otherwise rather light, modern interior of the restaurant.
The prices at the Khushi are particularly moderate for the area near the Wasserturm in Prenzlauer Berg. The service is fast and friendly. If you want to try something new instead of the Indian classics like the mild Chicken Korma or grill dishes from the clay oven, you can also try duck – for example Duck Kashmiri with Mughlai sauce made from real saffron, fruit and nuts.
