Krasselt’s Imbiss: A Cult Spot in Berlin-Steglitz Since 1959

Since its founding in 1959, the snack bar, then a freestanding sales trailer, was located at the marketplace on Steglitzer Damm. A lot has changed since then, but the address has remained the same: Krasselt’s Imbiss at Steglitzer Damm 22 is the origin of all Krasselt’s locations in Berlin, and original Krasselt’s products are only available there. Since its establishment, Krasselt’s sausage has been produced by their in-house butcher according to a finely tuned recipe developed exclusively for this snack bar. The same applies to Krasselt’s Ketchup. If you’re hungry after a visit to the nearby Botanical Garden in Berlin-Steglitz, one of the largest in the world with over 22,000 plant species, this is the perfect place. The traditional Schlosspark Theater, an institution in Berlin-Steglitz, is also within walking distance. By the way, eating is done outdoors, under cover, at the stand-up snack bar, which is simply part of the charm of the place.

What to Eat at Krasselt’s: Currywurst in Berlin at the Highest Level

The heart of it all remains the Currywurst in Berlin. The sausage is served with a fruity, homemade tomato sauce and halved with wooden skewers, which we immediately noticed on the first bite. It’s the blend of curry, sweet paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the homemade ketchup that defines the taste here and clearly sets Krasselt’s apart from other snack bars for us. The Currywurst is available with or without casing. Furthermore, Currywurst is offered in all variations, from regular to spicy. Fries are also available, making an excellent side dish. The menu ranges from Currywurst with fries to meatballs with potato salad, ensuring that even less meat-loving guests will find something. From 21:00, there’s also a Late-Night Special: two sausages for the price of one, making a late visit even more worthwhile. Drinks, including beer, complete the offering.
