Nestled among large old trees, directly on the Neuer See in Tiergarten, lies one of Berlin’s most traditional beer gardens. The outdoor area is spacious, offering seating for several hundred guests on long wooden benches. For open-air events, the open spaces can even accommodate up to 1,000 people. The light-filled barn with a pergola complements the offering as an indoor area, whose fully openable glass front creates seamless transitions between indoors and outdoors.

In good weather, visitors can enjoy freshly tapped beer, as well as Bavarian and regional specialties until after sunset: homemade pretzels and Leberkäse, crispy stone oven pizza, and sourdough bread from the in-house Borchardt bakery. In the beer garden, everything operates on a self-service principle, while grilled specialties with drinks are served at set tables in the indoor restaurant. Those who wish can also rent rowing boats directly on-site starting from spring, from 14 Euros per hour.

The café was founded in 1896 and has since operated an indoor restaurant with a kitchen for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This makes it one of the oldest gastronomic addresses in the entire Tiergarten. Those who find their way here should make the most of the area. The Teehaus im Englischen Garten is also located in the park, inviting guests for tea and cake in a British atmosphere. The Victory Column is also just a short walk away, offering an impressive panoramic view of Berlin’s city center and the entire Tiergarten. The beer garden at Neuer See itself does not accept reservations. So, if you want to sit by the water with a liter of beer on a sunny afternoon, it’s best to come early.
