The Kino International on Karl-Marx-Allee was the premiere cinema of the DEFA and has been back in operation since February 2026 after a renovation costing around 15 million Euros. Two stages operate in Volkspark Hasenheide: the old main stage for up to 800 guests, and the tent-like New Stage with 180 seats and a daylight-protected screen. Today, the screen is located in the Atelier Gardens on Oberlandstraße, on the former Berliner Union-Film-Ateliers site at the edge of Tempelhofer Feld. For over three decades, the volunteer association Filmrausch Moabit has been showing original versions with subtitles, its own series like Reel Love and Gamerausch, as well as surprise films with free admission.

In the backyard of Haus Schwarzenberg on Rosenthaler Straße, guests sit on comfortable chairs, some at small tables directly in front of the screen. Modern classics and current arthouse cinema are shown, consistently in English or with English subtitles, and the adjacent Bar Eschschloraque provides the courtyard with food and drinks.
