Mahalaya Yoga & Healing Arts in Friedrichshain welcomes you as a modern temple for body and mind in a former pen factory. Across 350 square meters, you'll find not only invigorating Hot Yoga but also a diverse range of offerings from Vinyasa to healing sound journeys.
What makes the studio in Friedrichshain so special?
Whoever enters the somewhat hidden second backyard at Boxhagener Straße 77 immediately leaves the stress of the capital behind: Mahalaya, whose name means “great temple,” is a true sanctuary that radiates peace and strength. Originally started as a pure Hot Yoga studio, the location has now developed into a holistic center for Yoga and Healing Arts.
In the listed halls, two large rooms await you, catering to different needs. While the “Hot Room” is for sweating at tropical temperatures, the second room offers space for more relaxed practice or training sessions in pleasant warmth. Additionally, a cozy lobby and a small shop invite you to linger before or after class.
What yoga styles and offerings are on the schedule at Mahalaya Yoga & Healing Arts?
Mahalaya’s roots lie in Hot Yoga, which is why the classic Bikram series still holds a firm place on the schedule. However, the repertoire has grown significantly. In addition to dynamic Vinyasa Flows, you can also practice Forrest Yoga here, a powerful style that particularly focuses on the neck and lower back.
Those who prefer a quieter practice will find balance in Yin Yoga or guided meditations. Special attention is also paid to “Healing Arts.” Events such as sound baths, cacao ceremonies, or breathwork sessions regularly take place, enabling deeper experiences.
Editor’s Conclusion
What we particularly appreciate about Mahalaya is the successful blend of athletic challenge and spiritual depth. The studio is excellent for anyone who wants to push themselves hard with Hot Yoga, but also for those who seek peace through gentle sounds and meditation.
