Trödelmarkt am Boxhagener Platz

The "Boxi" is the Sunday heart of Friedrichshain: On the historic Boxhagener Platz, the southern neighborhood transforms weekly into one of Berlin's most popular flea markets, where vintage, vinyl, and curiosities from decades meet a relaxed atmosphere that even convinces die-hard Mauerpark grumps.
Boxhagener Platz Flea Market: Second-hand Browsing with Neighborhood Charm
On Sundays, Boxhagener Platz belongs entirely to the flea market. From 10 AM to 6 PM, stalls line up around the square, and even those who like to sleep in won’t miss out. The offerings are diverse: used books, records, vintage clothing, furniture, art objects, and all sorts of curiosities from past decades await new owners. The book and vinyl stands are particularly popular, where one can easily lose an hour.
Mainly, private sellers bring basement finds and household items. Additionally, there are also specialized dealers, for example, for vintage fashion. Admission is free. Those looking for handmade craft items will also find individual artist stalls, as the market has also developed into a small art market in recent years.
Relaxed Browsing in the Simon-Dach Neighborhood
What distinguishes the Boxhagener Platz flea market from other Berlin flea markets is its comparatively relaxed atmosphere. Unlike Mauerpark, there’s ample space here to breathe and bargain. The green area in the center of the square invites visitors to linger after browsing, and right next to it, there’s a playground for children. Those who get hungry will find snack options among the stalls, as well as numerous cafés and restaurants in the surrounding Simon-Dach neighborhood. A Sunday brunch before or after visiting the market can easily be planned. The flea market is easily accessible by S-Bahn (Warschauer Straße) or U-Bahn (Samariter Straße).
