Friedrichshagen Flea Market: A Traditional Jumble Sale

For over 30 years, the flea market at Friedrichshagen S-Bahn station has been a firm institution in Berlin’s market scene. What distinguishes it from many other flea and jumble markets in the city is its down-to-earth character. Throughout the year, between 60 and 100 vendors sell their wares every Sunday in the parking lot right next to the S-Bahn station. It’s primarily the mix that ensures a good atmosphere: the large proportion of private sellers guarantees a diverse offering, but professionals also offer second-hand goods, individual items, or collector’s pieces, including coins, porcelain, model trains, jewelry, white linen, and GDR memorabilia. So, whoever strolls through the aisles with open eyes will sooner or later find what they’re looking for.

Sunday Outing with Added Value

The Friedrichshagen Flea Market can be wonderfully transformed into half a day trip. A visit to the market can be well combined with an extended stroll along the Müggelsee shore. It’s no wonder that this jumble sale is known far beyond the borders of Köpenick: the good accessibility, the proximity to Lake Müggelsee, and the traditionally good reputation of the Friedrichshagen district ensure that the market is well-attended even in bad weather and is popular with day-trippers and tourists during the green season. Those who wish to sell themselves don’t need to plan extensively: you can rent a ready-made market stall or bring your own table; registrations are possible even at the last minute, and if you spontaneously bring your own table early on a Sunday, you can even come without prior registration, completely without extra permission. The Friedrichshagen Flea Market is open on Sundays from 8 AM to 4 PM.
