The Supermarché in Wiener Straße carries around 50 labels with fair-trade criteria or organic certification, plus its own hand-printed label Hirschkind. Old wool and cashmere are accepted for further processing, clearly sorted on 100 square meters.

Supermarché: Fair-Trade Fashion and Own Label in Kreuzberg

The name is both a mission statement and a provocation. Supermarché maintains an ironic distance from the classic supermarket concept, countering it with a deliberately small, curated assortment. On 100 square meters of retail space, there are clothes and home accessories from labels that work according to fair-trade criteria or whose fabrics are certified with organic seals, instead of mass-produced goods from fast fashion.

Around 50 Labels, an Own Label, a Wool Collection Point

The range includes fair-trade jeans and organic trousers in over 50 models, as well as fashion and accessories from around 50 brands such as ARMEDANGELS, Recolution, Kuyichi, Kings of Indigo, Rifò, Knowledge Cotton Apparel, Ethletics, and Vegetarian Shoes. Companies that support their own social projects are preferentially stocked. Additionally, there is the in-house label Hirschkind, whose complete collection can be found here, hand-printed with flora and fauna motifs: bedding with the Neukölln dandelion, shirts with great tits or the Brandenburg chestnut, and hand-woven tea towels.

Old textiles can be dropped off in the store; currently, wool and cashmere are primarily collected. What becomes of them can be seen on the shelf: the company Rifò has new hats, gloves, and sweaters made from them in Italy, which are then available at Supermarché.

The interior design also follows this logic. It was partly built from old pallets, supplemented with second-hand furniture and wood from certified forestry, and the store uses electricity from renewable sources. Advice is personal and based on precise knowledge of the brands. Anyone looking for certified fashion in Kreuzberg is in the right place at Wiener Straße 16.
