The Bar jeder Vernunft performs in an original Art Nouveau mirrored tent, built in the Netherlands in 1912 as a Danse Palais, and located in Wilmersdorf since 1992. Between 200 and 250 guests sit at tables in the arena or in boxes at the edge. For a cabaret evening in Berlin, this is the stage with the most mirrors.

From the outside, there’s little to see at Schaperstraße 24, but inside stands an original Art Nouveau mirrored tent, built in the Netherlands in 1912 as a Danse Palais. Until the 1920s, it traveled as a seasonal ball and dance tent through the fashionable seaside resorts of Flanders and the Netherlands; since 1992, it has been in Wilmersdorf. Anyone entering through the wood-paneled entrance area with its mirrors and round arches finds themselves in a circular space of red velvet curtains, chandeliers, and a mirrored tent dome. In the center is a round dance floor, with seating at tables in the arena or in boxes at the edge; depending on the seating arrangement, the tent accommodates between 200 and 250 guests and is also fully air-conditioned. Bar jeder Vernunft was founded by Holger Klotzbach, who later added the Tipi am Kanzleramt as a larger sister venue. The venue’s emerging artist award is now named after him and will be presented again in early 2027.

Chanson, Cabaret and Burlesque: The Program of Bar jeder Vernunft

Performances take place almost every evening, and the spectrum ranges from chanson to cabaret, music comedy, and musicals. The Pfister Siblings grew up in this mirrored tent, Meret Becker debuted here, and Georgette Dee has been a fixture of the house for years. For the 2026/27 season, the schedule includes Sven Ratzke with “KOPFKINO,” Sharon Brauner with “Kind dieser Stadt,” and the musical “Die Bettwurst” directed by Rosa von Praunheim, starring Anna Mateur. In December, “Unverschämt charmant,” a burlesque variety music show led by Sheila Wolf, featuring the house band Let’s Misbehave playing Charleston and Swing, will be added. Afterwards, Tim Fischer will take over the winter block with his chansons, accompanied on piano and drums. Tickets cost between 22.90 and 62.90 Euros depending on the production. Those who wish can book a three-course menu in advance: appetizer and main course are served before the show, dessert during the intermission. In summer, guests gather in the beer garden in front of the tent; in the winter months, the in-house Piano Bar opens after the performance.
